FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS PAGE
What is a good age to start my child?
Usually five is a good age, but it totally depends on the child's attention span. If they can pay attention, they can start earlier.
What do we wear to class?
Shorts or a skirt (above the knee). No pants. They are very restrictive and the legs can't be seen properly. Tennis shoes are fine to start with until you get your pumps. You may also wear a leotard if you wish. Also, bring a water bottle with you as you will want to replenish fluids that you lose.
Why do we have to stretch before class?
We must stretch in order to prevent injuries to ourselves. It is a very important part of your dancing. If your muscles are not warmed up properly, it is very easy to break bones and tear muscles and ligaments. It is also important to do to cool muscles down as well.
Why does the teacher have to be certified in order for our children to compete?
We are ruled by our governing body (An Coimisiun Le Rinci Gaelacha) in Dublin, Ireland. They hold up certain standards of teaching and this ensures that your teacher knows what he or she is doing.
